10/1995-11/1996
Senior Network Technician
Project Leader of a team of four members two senior level technicians/engineers and two entry level technicians that evaluated, recommended, and implemented the renovation of the GroupWise 4.1 domain at Bureau of Naval Personnel. This renovation consisted of switching all email domain traffic to a single host for more efficient processing to and from the Internet and internal users on the email system. This saved a tremendous amount of funds because of the minimal amount of downtime that was required for the maintenance and troubleshooting of domains/post offices. My team and I placed the new post office agents on servers as opposed to workstations. This solution sped up the process of delivery and allowed for a more stable email environment. Along with this lead position I was required to give status reports and briefings at the end of each day to the Master Chief and Captain for the duration of the conversion.
Team Leader of six individuals three Entry level technicians and two four mid level technicians in the implementation of the conversion from WordPerfect Office 2.0 to GroupWise 4.1. This solution happened because of the discontinued support of WordPerfect Office 2.0. The team and I were required to assist PC Lab technicians on the installation and configuration of GroupWise 4.1 and ensure that all users had received all the mail from the older software package to the new software package. This assisted the Bureau of Naval Personnel staff from using additional funds to hire outside contractors for just this migration. The responsibilities as team leader included daily status reports to the Captain and Master Chief, documentation for support of the product, resolving conflicts of team members methodologies and making the final decision from the conflict of methodology.
Team leader of Disaster Recovery team of four members that implemented the procedures for a middle of the night power outage that occurred on a Sunday for unknown reasons. My team and I implemented and ensured systems were up and running within two hours. Commercial power was restored and systems were on-line to continue business as usual.
